APU and Universitas Ciputra forge Partnership in Psychology


Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) and Universitas Ciputra have forged a strategic partnership to advance psychology education and research through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).

This partnership was formalised in a signing ceremony held at Universitas Ciputra, Surabaya, Indonesia on 6th March 2025.

The agreement was led by Mr Thomas Tanama (Senior Regional Manager of Student Services and Marketing at APU), and signed by Ms Vinorra Shaker (Head, School of Psychology at APU), alongside Dr Livia Yuliawati (Dean, School of Psychology at Universitas Ciputra).

On top of that, this partnership is supported by:

  1. Professor Dr Andy Seddon, Senior Director of Strategic Partnership at APU
  2. Professor Dr Ho Chin Kuan, Vice-Chancellor of APU

Key objectives of this partnership:

  1. Enhance Global Reach: Foster cross-cultural exchange and expand academic networks.
  2. Promote Academic Excellence: Facilitate joint classes, lecturer exchanges, and collaborative research.
  3. Develop International Partnerships: Strengthen both universities’ commitment to global collaboration.
  4. Increase Research Output: Advance research initiatives and joint publications.
  5. Improve Student Mobility: Provide students with valuable international exposure through study trips and competitions.

Enriching Student Learning through Expert Insights

Following the signing ceremony, Ms Vinorra delivered an insightful guest lecture titled “Scroll, Click, and Repeat: The Science of Digital Habits and How to Break them.”

Addressing an audience of over 200 psychology students at Universitas Ciputra, she explored the psychological mechanisms behind digital addiction and strategies to cultivate healthier online behaviors.

Her lecture not only provided students with valuable academic insights, but also demonstrated the immediate benefits of the newly formed partnership.

This engagement reflects the partnership’s commitment to enriching the student learning experience through expert-led discussions, fostering knowledge exchange, and inspiring future research in the field of psychology.
