Asia Pacific Language Centre (APLC) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) marks a defining chapter in its history, celebrating nearly 20 years of dedication, growth and excellence through two vibrant milestone events — a grand staff luncheon and a spectacular Lunar New Year celebration at its brand-new two-floor campus.

Almost two decades of progress were commemorated in style with a spectacular luncheon for all staff at a fine dining, luxury five-star venue in Subang. From its early beginnings in Bandar Bukit Jalil to its stunning new two-floor office on APU’s purpose-built campus today, APLC has grown in every way — in student numbers, academic programmes, faculty strength and institutional reputation. 

The luncheon served as a timely tribute to the hard work, passion and commitment of every staff member who has shaped APLC into the dynamic and inspiring centre it is today. 

A Five-Star Tribute to Team Excellence

The staff appreciation event was thoughtfully organised to also celebrate recent large student intakes and international visiting groups. It recognised the collective effort that powers APLC’s operations. 

Every staff member was acknowledged — from those delivering intensive English lessons to international students, guiding remedial learners and conducting high-quality teacher training, to those managing English programmes for external academic and non-academic clients and organising major student-centred events. 

More than a celebratory meal, the luncheon stood as a tribute to nearly two decades of professionalism, prosperity and shared purpose at APLC. 

APLC Senior Manager, Ms Sharen Kaur, delivered a heartfelt message during the luncheon, “Every member of the APLC team matters. Some of you have been with APLC since day one, helping build the excellence we celebrate today. From the very start, APU believed in us and stood behind us no matter the challenge. 

“Today, we honour every teacher and every member of our admin team. One Team, One Dream. Together, we will continue to reach new heights. APLC is not just great. It is extraordinary, and that greatness is because of you,” she continued. 

Welcoming the Lunar New Year in a Brand-New Space

In the same celebratory spirit, APLC ushered in the Lunar New Year with a lion dance extravaganza across every corner of its brand-new two-floor campus. Bringing together students and teachers across all seven English levels, the event was both cultural and educational in nature. 

The milestone celebration not only welcomed the Lunar New Year with festive vibrancy but also marked APLC’s continued growth and commitment to delivering world-class learning experiences.

The celebration began with teachers guiding students through the rich traditions and history of Chinese New Year. Students then worked collaboratively in groups to research and deliver mini presentations on topics ranging from cultural heritage to academic excellence, demonstrating creativity, critical thinking and teamwork. 

Interactive quizzes, cultural games and hands-on activities further immersed students in festive traditions. Guests to APLC had the opportunity to observe students confidently presenting their research, explaining customs and sharing insights about the festival — a reflection of APLC’s integrated approach to language mastery and experiential learning.

Reflecting on the celebration, Ms Sharen Kaur said, “Celebrating the Lunar New Year in our new two-floor space was a powerful reminder of APLC’s journey and growth. Having been part of APLC since 2009, from our first days in Bandar Bukit Jalil to this beautiful new space, I have seen how the centre consistently ensures students learn not only in the classroom but beyond it.”

“Observing our students explore, present and experience the lion dance for the first time brought energy and joy to every corner, perfectly reflecting APLC’s unique blend of academic excellence, culture and vibrant learning.” 

Event leader, Ms Haryati How, emphasised the collaborative spirit behind the celebration, “Teachers and students worked hand in hand to make this celebration educational and engaging. It was wonderful to see students building teamwork, research and presentation skills while enjoying the festivities.” 

Event coordinator, Ms Nur Nazrin, added, “Many students had never seen a lion dance before. Watching them interact fearlessly with the lions in our brand-new space, energising every corner of the campus, was heartwarming; it is an experience they will remember forever.”

Together, these two milestone events — one honouring nearly two decades of staff excellence and the other celebrating cultural vibrancy within a new campus environment — symbolise APLC’s enduring strength and forward momentum. 

As APLC steps confidently into its next chapter within its modern two-floor campus, it does so anchored by nearly 20 years of dedication — and driven by a collective commitment to reach even greater heights.
