Two student teams from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) achieved a double-prize success at Innovation Pitching Powered by PERANTIM (INNOMD) 2026; securing First and Second Prize respectively, with RM2,000 and RM1,000 in cash prizes for their innovative project presentations.

INNOMD 2026 provides a platform for participants to present their ideas and innovations within the medical technology and healthcare landscape; encouraging the development and showcasing of solutions related to medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, and emerging medical technologies. 

Bringing Student Innovation to the Competition 

At INNOMD 2026, participating student teams had the opportunity to present their innovative ideas to an industry-focused audience, demonstrating their ability to develop, communicate, and pitch solutions in response to real-world needs; allowing them to gain exposure to the process of presenting and discussing innovation beyond the classroom. 

For APU, the competition offered students an avenue to apply their academic knowledge, while developing their creativity, technical knowledge, and problem-solving capabilities. 

Through the pitching process, students were able to strengthen skills that extend beyond project development, including presenting their ideas clearly, responding to questions, and communicating the potential application of their work to a wider audience. 

These experiences also encouraged students to consider how their ideas could be developed and presented in ways that address practical challenges within the medical technology landscape; reflecting their commitment to developing their ideas and presenting them effectively. 

Cultivating Innovation through Student Achievement 

The double-prize achievement at INNOMD 2026 reflects the students’ dedication, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance, complemented by the guidance provided by their lecturers. 

Through participation in competitions such as this, students gain opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in competitive environments, strengthen their confidence in presenting innovative ideas, and develop a greater understanding of how innovation can be translated into practical solutions. 

The success of both student teams demonstrates the value of providing students with platforms to test their ideas, gain industry exposure, and continue developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to contribute to innovation, and address emerging challenges across different fields and industries.
