Rising stars Kelly Teo Yao and Shermann Choong Li Sheng, both students at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), made waves at the Varsity Swimming Championship 2025 (Circuit 2).

Kelly dominated her events, securing three gold medals in the 200-metre Freestyle, 50-metre Backstroke, and 400-metre Individual Medley.

Reflecting on her success, she noted her increased focus on training this year.
“I did my best in these competitions, and I have learned to be patient and courteous to others. It was a fun competition,” she said.
Kelly’s advice to aspiring athletes is to stay focused and avoid unnecessary stress.

Shermann, meanwhile, earned a bronze medal in the 200-metre Butterfly.
He acknowledged that balancing his studies, assignments, and Final Year Project (FYP) had been challenging and affected his performance.
“Honestly, I did not perform as well as I had hoped,” he admitted.
Despite the challenges, Shermann took away a valuable lesson.
“I realised that the world is not always fair, and sometimes there are biases beyond our control. It was a tough but important lesson.”
