Ameera Abdul Sathar and Sharveenn Murthi, both students from Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science programme at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), have been elected to leadership roles in IPMA Malaysia’s Young Crew Executive Committee, serving as Vice President and Treasurer respectively.

Their appointments represent a proud moment for APU, reflecting the university’s commitment to preparing students for meaningful contributions beyond the classroom, and highlighting the strong foundation in leadership and project management nurtured during their studies.

A Global Platform for Growth

The International Project Management Association (IPMA), founded in 1965 in Switzerland, is a leading global network dedicated to advancing excellence in project, programme, and portfolio management across more than 70 countries.

Its Young Crew division serves as a dynamic platform for young professionals under the age of 35, providing opportunities to lead, collaborate, and innovate within the project management field.

By being elected to key leadership roles within IPMA Malaysia’s Young Crew Executive Committee, Ameera and Sharveenn are now positioned to engage with a vibrant international community, gain valuable leadership experience, and build connections that will significantly enhance their personal growth and professional careers in the years ahead.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Both students were mentored by Mr Vijayaraj C Vijayasingam (Senior Lecturer, School of Technology at APU and Board Member of IPMA Malaysia).

Through his mentorship, particularly during their involvement in the Project Management module, they were able to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application.

His support not only strengthened their understanding of project management concepts, but also helped them develop the practical skills, leadership abilities, and confidence necessary to take on significant roles at the international level.
